ABOUT ME

I am a Bristol based freelance 2nd Camera Operator/Assistant specialising in Adventure and Natural History productions.
With extensive experience filming wildlife and presenter-led productions in remote and challenging environments, I am a confident 2nd shooter with a strong understanding of filming techniques and camera work including operating long lens, motion-controlled sliders, gimbals, timelapses and drone. I am proficient shooting with Sony Cinema cameras as well as being a CAA qualified drone pilot.
After completeing my degree in BSc Zoology and Conservation, I entered the world of TV as a Production Technical Assistant with renowned Bristol based company Icon Films. This was a unique role that allowed me to be involved in everything technical, from edit assisting and kit preparation, to camera assisting and 2nd shooting on productions around the world. Here, I progressed my career over 5 years, making the most of Icon's dedication to developing their team. With Icon sadly closing down in 2023 I have since been freelancing on a range of exciting productions with companies including BBC, True to Nature and Atomic Television.
My experiences have taken me to extreme and remote locations, from jungles and deserts to high altitude environments. I have often had to work in locations with little facilities, where we are dealing with power cuts and using generators. My shoots have included managing and maintaining kit in challenging conditions over many months, from camping deep in the Guyanese jungle during the rainy season to filming at high altitudes in the mountains of the Andes in extreme weather conditions.
In addition to my camera work I have gained editorial experience, having assisted with research alongside my camera role on a number of productions, including 'Primal Survivor: Over the Andes', where I assisted the AP in sourcing and verifying survival techniques and tribal culture for stories prior to the shoot, as well as preparing beat sheets and fact checking scripts. In 2024 I received my first Director credit on Countryfile, where I directed 6 minute 'post card' sequences with contributors on episodes including Mental Health Awareness and Chew Valley, where I managed all research, contributor calls, script writing, self shooting and directing on the day and then edit producing during post production. For natural history productions my zoology based degree helps considerably with my knowledge of species and their behaviour.
